Established in 1986 by Dr Okechukwu Onuzo, a renowned Consultant Nephrologist, and his wife, Mariam Onuzo, a skilled General Practitioner, the hospital has been at the forefront of medical care in the country. Dr. Onuzo was trained in three universities: University of Ibadan teaching Hospital, Lagos university teaching Hospital both in Nigeria, and Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester New York, USA.
